In die vigesima et quarta mensis, in sexto mense, in anno secundo Darii regis.
In the four and twentieth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king, they began.
In die vigesimo et quarto de mense, in sexto mense, in anno secundo de Dario de rege.
In septimo mense, vigesima et prima mensis, factum est verbum Domini in manu Aggæi prophetæ, dicens:
And in the seventh month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

Loquere ad Zorobabel, filium Salathiel, ducem Juda, et ad Jesum, filium Josedec, sacerdotem magnum, et ad reliquos populi, dicens:
Speak to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel the governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and to the rest of the people, saying:
Loque ad Zorobabele, filio Salathiele, duce Iuda, et ad Iesu, filio Iosedece, sacerdote magna, et ad reliqua de populo, dicente:
Quis in vobis est derelictus, qui vidit domum istam in gloria sua prima? et quid vos videtis hanc nunc? numquid non ita est, quasi non sit in oculis vestris?
Who is left among you, that saw this house in its first glory? and how do you see it now? is it not in comparison to that as nothing in your eyes?
Qui in vos es derelinque, qui vide domo isto in gloria suo primo? Et quid vos vide hoc nunc? Numquid non ita es, quasi non es in oculos vestro?
Et nunc confortare, Zorobabel, dicit Dominus; et confortare, Jesu, fili Josedec, sacerdos magne; et confortare, omnis populus terræ, dicit Dominus exercituum: et facite (quoniam ego vobiscum sum, dicit Dominus exercituum)
Yet now take courage, O Zorobabel, saith the Lord, and take courage, Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and take courage, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord of hosts: and perform (for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts)
Et nunc conforta, Zorobabele, Domino dic; et conforta, de Iesu, filio Iosedece, sacerdote maga; et conforta, omni populo de terra, Domino de exercitus dic: et fac (quia me vos es, Domino de exercitus dic)
verbum quod pepigi vobiscum cum egrederemini de terra Ægypti: et spiritus meus erit in medio vestrum: nolite timere.
The word that I covenanted with you when you came out of the land of Egypt: and my spirit shall be in the midst of you: fear not.
Verbo quod pepiga vos cum egredior de terra de Aegypto: et spiritu meo es in medio vestro: ne vol time.
Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum: Adhuc unum modicum est, et ego commovebo cælum, et terram, et mare, et aridam.
For thus saith the Lord of hosts: Yet one little while, and I will move the heaven and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.
Quia Domino de exercitus dic hoc: adhuc uno modico es, et me commove caelo, et terra, et mari, et arido.
Et movebo omnes gentes, et veniet desideratus cunctis gentibus: et implebo domum istam gloria, dicit Dominus exercituum.
And I will move all nations: AND THE DESIRED OF ALL NATIONS SHALL COME: and I will fill this house with glory: saith the Lord of hosts.
Et move omni gentes, et veni desidera cuncta ad gentes: et imple domo isto gloria, Domino de exercitus dic.
Meum est argentum, et meum est aurum, dicit Dominus exercituum.
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.
Meo es argento, et meo es auro, Domino de exercitus dic.
Magna erit gloria domus istius novissimæ plus quam primæ, dicit Dominus exercituum: et in loco isto dabo pacem, dicit Dominus exercituum.
Great shall be the glory of this last house more than of the first, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place I will give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.
Magna es gloria domo isto novissimo plus quam primo, Domino de exercitus dic: et in loco isto da pace, Domino de exercitus dic.

In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius the king, the word of the Lord came to Haggai the prophet, saying:
In vigesimo et quarto nono mense, in anno secundo de Dario de rege, facto es verbo de Domino ad Aggaei propheta, dicente:
Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum: Interroga sacerdotes legem, dicens:
Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Ask the priests the law, saying:
Domino de exercitus dic hoc: interroga sacerdotes lege, dicente:
Si tulerit homo carnem sanctificatam in ora vestimenti sui, et tetigerit de summitate ejus panem, aut pulmentum, aut vinum, aut oleum, aut omnem cibum, numquid sanctificabitur? Respondentes autem sacerdotes, dixerunt: Non.
If a man carry sanctified flesh in the skirt of his garment, and touch with his skirt, bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat: shall it be sanctified? And the priests answered, and said: No.
Si homine fer carne sanctifica in ores de vestimento suo, et tange de summitate de illo pane, aut pulmento, aut vino, aut oleo, aut omni cibo, numquid sanctifica? Responde autem sacerdotes, dic: non.
Et dixit Aggæus: Si tetigerit pollutus in anima ex omnibus his, numquid contaminabitur? Et responderunt sacerdotes, et dixerunt: Contaminabitur.
And Haggai said: If one that is unclean by occasion of a soul touch any of all these things, shall it be defiled? And the priests answered, and said: It shall be defiled.
Et Aggaei dic: si tange pollue in anima ex omni hoc, numquid contamina? Et sacerdotes responde, et dic: contamina.
Et respondit Aggæus, et dixit: Sic populus iste, et sic gens ista ante faciem meam, dicit Dominus, et sic omne opus manuum eorum: et omnia quæ obtulerunt ibi, contaminata erunt.
And Haggai answered, and said: So is this people, and so is this nation before my face, saith the Lord, and so is all the work of their hands: and all that they have offered there, shall be defiled.
Et Aggaei responde, et dic: sic populo isto, et sic gente isto ante facie meo, dic Domino, et sic omni opere de manus de illos: et omni que offer ibi, contamina es.
Et nunc ponite corda vestra a die hac et supra, antequam poneretur lapis super lapidem in templo Domini.
And now consider in your hearts, from this day and upward, before there was a stone laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord.
Et nunc pone cordes vestro ab die hoc et supra, antequam lapide pone super lapide in templo de Domino.
Cum accederetis ad acervum viginti modiorum, et fierent decem; et intraretis ad torcular, ut exprimeretis quinquaginta lagenas, et fiebant viginti.
When you went to a heap of twenty bushels, and they became ten: and you went into the press, to press out fifty vessels, and they became twenty.
Cum accede ad acervo viginti de modios, et deceme fi; et intra ad torculare, ut exprime quinquaginta lagenas, et fi viginti.
Percussi vos vento urente, et aurugine, et grandine omnia opera manuum vestrarum: et non fuit in vobis qui reverteretur ad me, dicit Dominus.
I struck you with a blasting wind, and all the works of your hand with the mildew and with hail, yet there was none among you that returned to me, saith the Lord.
Percute vos vento ure, et aurugine, et grandine omni operes de manus vestro: et non es in vos qui reverte ad me, Domino dic.
Ponite corda vestra ex die ista, et in futurum, a die vigesima et quarta noni mensis: a die qua fundamenta jacta sunt templi Domini, ponite super cor vestrum.
Set your hearts from this day, and henceforward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month: from the day that the foundations of the temple of the Lord were laid, and lay it up in your hearts.
Pone cordes vestro ex die isto, et in es, ab die vigesimo et quarto de nono de mense: ab die quo fundamentos iacta es de templo de Domino, pone super corde vestro.
Numquid jam semen in germine est, et adhuc vinea, et ficus, et malogranatum, et lignum olivæ non floruit? ex die ista benedicam.
Is the seed as yet sprung up? or hath the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree as yet flourished? from this day I will bless you.

Et factum est verbum Domini secundo ad Aggæum in vigesima et quarta mensis, dicens:
And the word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying:
Et facto es verbo de Domino secundo ad Aggaei in vigesimo et quarto mense, dicente:
Loquere ad Zorobabel ducem Juda, dicens: Ego movebo cælum pariter et terram,
Speak to Zorobabel the governor of Juda, saying: I will move both heaven and earth.
Loque ad Zorobabele duce Iuda, dicente: me move caelo pariter et terra,
et subvertam solium regnorum, et conteram fortitudinem regni gentium: et subvertam quadrigam et ascensorem ejus, et descendent equi, et ascensores eorum, vir in gladio fratris sui.
And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and will destroy the strength of the kingdom of the Gentiles: and I will overthrow the chariot, and him that rideth therein: and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
Et subverte solio de regnos, et contere fortitudine de regno de gentes: et subverte quadriga et ascensore de illo, et descende equos, et ascensores de illos, viro in gladio de fratre suo.
In die illa, dicit Dominus exercituum, assumam te, Zorobabel, fili Salathiel, serve meus, dicit Dominus: et ponam te quasi signaculum, quia te elegi, dicit Dominus exercituum.
In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, I will take thee, O Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, my servant, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet, for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.
In die illa, Domino de exercitus dic, assume te, Zorobabele, filio Salathiele, servo meo, Domino dic: et pone te quasi signaculo, quia te elige, Domino de exercitus dic.
