Filii estote Domini Dei vestri: non vos incidetis, nec facietis calvitium super mortuo:
Be ye children of the Lord your God: you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness for the dead;
Filios es de Domino de Deo vestro: non vos incide, nec fac calvitio super more:
quoniam populus sanctus es Domino Deo tuo, et te elegit ut sis ei in populum peculiarem de cunctis gentibus, quæ sunt super terram.
Because thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God: and he chose thee to be his peculiar people of all nations that are upon the earth.
Quia populo sancto es ad Domino ad Deo tuo, et te elige ut es ad illo in populo peculiare de cuncta gentes, que es super terra.
Ne comedatis quæ immunda sunt.
Eat not the things that are unclean.
Ne comede que immundo es.
Hoc est animal quod comedere debetis: bovem, et ovem, et capram,
These are the beasts that you shall eat, the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,
Hoc es animale quod comede debe: bove, et ove, et capra,
cervum et capream, bubalum, tragelaphum, pygargum, orygem, camelopardalum.
The hart and the roe, the buffle, the chamois, the pygarg, the wild goat, the camelopardalus.
Cervo et capreo, bubalo, tragelapho, pygargo, oryge, camelopardalo.
Omne animal, quod in duas partes findit ungulam, et ruminat, comedetis.
Every beast that divideth the hoof in two parts, and cheweth the cud, you shall eat.
Omni animale, quod in duo parte finde ungula, et rumina, comede.
De his autem, quæ ruminant, et ungulam non findunt, comedere non debetis, ut camelum, leporem, chœrogryllum: hæc, quia ruminant et non dividunt ungulam, immunda erunt vobis.
But of them that chew the cud, but divide not the hoof, you shall not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the cherogril: because they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.
De hoc autem, que rumina, et ungula non finde, comede non debe, ut camelo, lepore, choerogryllo: hoc, quia rumina et non divide ungula, immundo es ad vos.
Sus quoque, quoniam dividat ungulam et non ruminat, immunda erit. Carnibus eorum non vescemini, et cadavera non tangetis.
The swine also, because it divideth the hoof, but cheweth not the cud, shall be unclean, their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.
Sue etiam, quia divide ungula et non rumina, immundo es. Carnes de illos non vescimi, et cadaveras non tange.
Hæc comedetis ex omnibus quæ morantur in aquis: quæ habent pinnulas et squamas, comedite:
These shall you eat of all that abide in the waters: All that have fins and scales, you shall eat.
Hoc comede ex omni que moror in aquas: que habe pinnulas et squamas, comede:
quæ absque pinnulis et squamis sunt, ne comedatis, quia immunda sunt.
Such as are without fins and scales, you shall not eat, because they are unclean.
Que absque pinnulo et squamas es, ne comede, quia immundo es.
Omnes aves mundas comedite.
All birds that are clean you shall eat.
Omni aves munda comede.
Immundas ne comedatis: aquilam scilicet, et gryphem, et haliæetum,
The unclean eat not: to wit, the eagle, and the grype, and the osprey,
Immundas ne comede: aquila id es, et gryphe, et haliaeto,
ixion et vulturem ac milvum juxta genus suum:
The ringtail, and the vulture, and the kite according to their kind:
Ixione et vulture et milvo juxta genere suo:
et omne corvini generis,
And all of the raven's kind:
Et omni de corvino de genere,
et struthionem, ac noctuam, et larum, atque accipitrem juxta genus suum:
And the ostrich, and the owl, and the larus, and the hawk according to its kind:
Et struthio, et noctua, et laro, et accipitre juxta genere suo:
herodium ac cygnum, et ibin,
The heron, and the swan, and the stork,
Herodio et cygno, et ibine,
ac mergulum, porphyrionem, et nycticoracem,
And the cormorant, the porphirion, and the night crow,
Et mergulo, porphyrione, et nycticorace,
onocrotalum, et charadrium, singula in genere suo: upupam quoque et vespertilionem.
The bittern, and the charadrion, every one in their kind: the houp also and the bat.
Onnocrotalo, et charadrio, singulo in genere suo: upupa etiam et vespertilione.
Et omne quod reptat et pennulas habet, immundum erit, et non comedetur.
Every thing that creepeth, and hath little wings, shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.
Et omni quod repta et pennulas habe, immundo es, et non comede.
Omne quod mundum est, comedite.
All that is clean, you shall eat.
Omni quod mundo es, comede.
Quidquid autem morticinum est, ne vescamini ex eo. Peregrino, qui intra portas tuas est, da ut comedat, aut vende ei: quia tu populus sanctus Domini Dei tui es. Non coques hædum in lacte matris suæ.
But whatsoever is dead of itself, eat not thereof. Give it to the stranger, that is within thy gates, to eat, or sell it to him: because thou art the holy people of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in the milk of his dam.
Omni autem morticino es, ne vesce ex eo. Peregrino, qui intra portas tuo es, da ut comede, aut vende ad illo: quia te populo sancto de Domino de Deo tuo es. Non coque hedo in lacte de matre suo.
Decimam partem separabis de cunctis fructibus tuis qui nascuntur in terra per annos singulos,
Every year thou shalt set aside the tithes of all thy fruits that the earth bringeth forth,
Decimo parte separa de cuncta fructus tuo qui nasce in terra per annos singulo,
et comedes in conspectu Domini Dei tui in loco quem elegerit, ut in eo nomen illius invocetur, decimam frumenti tui, et vini, et olei, et primogenita de armentis et ovibus tuis: ut discas timere Dominum Deum tuum omni tempore.
And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, that his name may be called upon therein, the tithe of thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, and the firstborn of thy herds and thy sheep: that thou mayst learn to fear the Lord thy God at all times.
Et comede in conspectu de Domino de Deo tuo in loco quem elige, ut in eo nomine de illo invoca, decimo de frumento tuo, et de vino, et de oleo, et primogenito de armentos et oves tuo: ut disce time Domino Deo tuo omni tempore.
Cum autem longior fuerit via, et locus quem elegerit Dominus Deus tuus, tibique benedixerit, nec potueris ad eum hæc cuncta portare,
But when the way and the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, are far off, and he hath blessed thee, and thou canst not carry all these things thither,
Cum autem longo es via, et loco Domino Deo tuo elige quem, et ad te benedic, nec pote ad illo hoc cuncta porta,
vendes omnia, et in pretium rediges, portabisque manu tua, et proficisceris ad locum quem elegerit Dominus Deus tuus:
Thou shalt sell them all, and turn them into money, and shalt carry it in thy hand, and shalt go to the place which the Lord shall choose:
Vende omni, et in pretio redige, et porta manu tuo, et proficiscor ad loco Domino Deo tuo elige quem:
et emes ex eadem pecunia quidquid tibi placuerit, sive ex armentis, sive ex ovibus, vinum quoque et siceram, et omne quod desiderat anima tua: et comedes coram Domino Deo tuo, et epulaberis tu et domus tua:
And thou shalt buy with the same money whatsoever pleaseth thee, either of the herds or of sheep, wine also and strong drink, and all that thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, and shalt feast, thou and thy house:
Et eme ex idem pecunia omni ad te place, sive ex armentos, sive ex oves, vino etiam et sice, et omni anima tuo desidera quod: et comede coram Domino Deo tuo, et te et domo tuo epulor:
et Levites qui intra portas tuas est, cave ne derelinquas eum, quia non habet aliam partem in possessione tua.
And the Levite that is within thy gates, beware thou forsake him not, because he hath no other part in thy possession.
Et Levite qui intra portas tuo es, cave ne derelinque illo, quia non habe alio parte in possessione tuo.
Anno tertio separabis aliam decimam ex omnibus quæ nascuntur tibi eo tempore, et repones intra januas tuas.
The third year thou shalt separate another tithe of all things that grow to thee at that time, and shalt lay it up within thy gates.
Anno tertio separa alio decimo ex omni que nasce ad te eo tempore, et repone intra ianuas tuo.
Venietque Levites qui aliam non habet partem nec possessionem tecum, et peregrinus ac pupillus et vidua, qui intra portas tuas sunt, et comedent et saturabuntur: ut benedicat tibi Dominus Deus tuus in cunctis operibus manuum tuarum quæ feceris.
And the Levite that hath no other part nor possession with thee, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come and shall eat and be filled: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the works of thy hands that thou shalt do.
Et veni Levite qui alio non habe parte nec possessione tecum, et peregrino et pupillo et vidua, qui intra portas tuo es, et comede et satura: ut Domino ad te Deo tuo benedic in cuncta operes de manus tuo que fac.
