1

Hæ sunt generationes filiorum Noë, Sem, Cham et Japheth: natique sunt eis filii post diluvium.

These are the generations of the sons of Noe: Sem, Cham, and Japheth: and unto them sons were born after the flood.

Hoc es generationes de filios Noë, Seme, Chama et Iapheth: et nato es ad illos filios post diluvio.

Filii Japheth: Gomer, et Magog, et Madai, et Javan, et Thubal, et Mosoch, et Thiras.

The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Thubal, and Mosoch, and Thiras.

Filios Iapheth: gomro, et Magoge, et Madao, et Iavane, et Thubale, et Mosoch, et Thirase.

Porro filii Gomer: Ascenez et Riphath et Thogorma.

And the sons of Gomer: Ascenez and Riphath and Thogorma.

Porro filios Gomro: ascenez et Riphath et Thogorma.

Filii autem Javan: Elisa et Tharsis, Cetthim et Dodanim.

And the sons of Javan: Elisa and Tharsis, Cetthim and Dodanim.

Filios autem Iavane: elisa et Tharsis, Cetthime et Dodane.

Ab his divisæ sunt insulæ gentium in regionibus suis, unusquisque secundum linguam suam et familias suas in nationibus suis.

By these were divided the islands of the Gentiles in their lands, every one according to his tongue and their families in their nations.

Ab hoc divide es insulas de gentes in regiones suo, et unusquis secundo lingua suo et de familia suo in nationes suo.

Filii autem Cham: Chus, et Mesraim, et Phuth, et Chanaan.

And the Sons of Cham: Chus, and Mesram, and Phuth, and Chanaan.

Filios autem Chama: choe, et Mesraio, et Phuth, et Chanaane.

Filii Chus: Saba, et Hevila, et Sabatha, et Regma, et Sabatacha. Filii Regma: Saba et Dadan.

And the sons of Chus: Saba, and Hevila, and Sabatha, and Regma, and Sabatacha. The sons of Regma: Saba, and Dadan.

Filios Choe: saba, et Hevila, et Sabatha, et Regma, et Sabatacha. Filios Regma: saba et Dadane.

Porro Chus genuit Nemrod: ipse cœpit esse potens in terra,

Now Chus begot Nemrod: he began to be mighty on the earth.

Porro Choe gene Nemrode: ipso incipe es potente in terra,

et erat robustus venator coram Domino. Ob hoc exivit proverbium: Quasi Nemrod robustus venator coram Domino.

And he was a stout hunter before the Lord. Hence came a proverb: Even as Nemrod the stout hunter before the Lord.

Et es robusta venatore coram Domino. Ob hoc exi proverbio: quasi Nemrode robusta venatore coram Domino.

Fuit autem principium regni ejus Babylon, et Arach et Achad, et Chalanne, in terra Sennaar.

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Arach, and Achad, and Chalanne in the land of Sennaar.

Es autem principio de regno de illo Babylone, et Arach et Achade, et Chalanne, in terra Sennaare.

De terra illa egressus est Assur, et ædificavit Niniven, et plateas civitatis, et Chale.

Out of that land came forth Assur, and built Ninive, and the streets of the city, and Chale.

De terra illa egredior es Assure, et aedifica Ninivene, et plateas de civitate, et Chale.

Resen quoque inter Niniven et Chale: hæc est civitas magna.

Resen also between Ninive and Chale: this is the great city.

Resene etiam inter Ninivene et Chale: hoc es civitate magna.

At vero Mesraim genuit Ludim, et Anamim et Laabim, Nephthuim,

And Mesraim begot Ludim, and Anamim and Laabim, Nephthuim.

Sed vero Mesraio gene Lude, et Aname et Laabe, Nephthuime,

14

et Phetrusim, et Chasluim: de quibus egressi sunt Philisthiim et Caphtorim.

And Phetrusim, and Chasluim; of whom came forth the Philistines, and the Capthorim.

Et Phetro, et Chaslo: de que egredior es Philisthio et Caphtore.

Chanaan autem genuit Sidonem primogenitum suum. Hethæum,

And Chanaan begot Sidon his firstborn, the Hethite,

Chanaane autem gene Sidone primogenito suo. Hethaeo,

et Jebusæum, et Amorrhæum, Gergesæum,

And the Jebusite, and the Amorrhite, and the Gergesite.

Et Iebusaeo, et Amorrhaeo, Gergesaeo,

Hevæum, et Aracæum: Sinæum,

The Hevite and Aracite: the Sinite,

Hevaeo, et Aracaeo: sinaeo,

18

et Aradium, Samaræum, et Amathæum: et post hæc disseminati sunt populi Chananæorum.

And the Aradian, the Samarite, and the Hamathite: and afterwards the families of the Chanaanites were spread abroad.

Et Aradio, Samaraeo, et Amathaeo: et post hoc dissemina es de populo de Chananaeis.

Factique sunt termini Chanaan venientibus a Sidone Geraram usque Gazam, donec ingrediaris Sodomam et Gomorrham, et Adamam, et Seboim usque Lesa.

And the limits of Chanaan were from Sidon as one comes to Gerara even to Gaza, until thou enter Sodom and Gomorrha, and Adama, and Seboim even to Lesa.

Et fac es terminos Chanaane veni ab Sidone Gerara usque Gazase, usque que ingredior Sodoma et Gomorrhame, et Adama, et Seboime usque Lesa.

Hi sunt filii Cham in cognationibus, et linguis, et generationibus, terrisque et gentibus suis.

These are the children of Cham in their kindreds and tongues, and generations, and lands, and nations.

Illo es filios Chama in cognationes, et linguas, et generationes, et terras et ad gentes suo.

21

De Sem quoque nati sunt, patre omnium filiorum Heber, fratre Japheth majore.

Of Sem also the father of all the children of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born.

De Seme etiam nato es, patre de omni de filios Hebro, fratre Iapheth magna.

22

Filii Sem: Ælam, et Assur, et Arphaxad, et Lud, et Aram.

The sons of Sem: Elam and Assur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

Filios Seme: aelase, et Assure, et Arphaxade, et Ludo, et Arame.

Filii Aram: Us, et Hul, et Gether, et Mes.

The sons of Aram: Us, and Hull, and Gether; and Mes.

Filios Arame: usu, et Hule, et Gethro, et Mesa.

At vero Arphaxad genuit Sale, de quo ortus est Heber.

But Arphaxad begot Sale, of whom was born Heber.

Sed vero Arphaxade gene Sale, de quo orto es Hebro.

25

Natique sunt Heber filii duo: nomen uni Phaleg, eo quod in diebus ejus divisa sit terra: et nomen fratris ejus Jectan.

And to Heber were born two sons: the name of the one was Phaleg, because in his days was the earth divided: and his brother's name Jectan.

Et nato es Hebro filios duo: nomine uno Phalege, eo quod in dies de illo divide es terra: et nomine de fratre de illo Iectane.

Qui Jectan genuit Elmodad, et Saleph, et Asarmoth, Jare,

Which Jectan begot Elmodad, and Saleph, and Asarmoth, Jare,

Qui Iectane gene Elmodade, et Saleph, et Asarmoth, Iare,

et Aduram, et Uzal, et Decla,

And Aduram, and Uzal, and Decla,

Et Adura, et Uzale, et Decla,

et Ebal, et Abimaël, Saba,

And Ebal, and Abimael, Saba,

Et Ebale, et Abimaële, Saba,

et Ophir, et Hevila, et Jobab: omnes isti, filii Jectan.

And Ophir, and Hevila, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Jectan.

Et Ophir, et Hevila, et Iobabe: omni isto, filios Iectane.

30

Et facta est habitatio eorum de Messa pergentibus usque Sephar montem orientalem.

And their dwelling was from Messa as we go on as far as Sephar, a mountain in the east.

Et facto es habitatione de illos de Messa perge usque Sephare monte orientali.

31

Isti filii Sem secundum cognationes, et linguas, et regiones in gentibus suis.

These are the children of Sem according to their kindreds and tongues, and countries in their nations.

Isto filios Seme secundo cognationes, et linguas, et regiones in gentes suo.

32

Hæ familiæ Noë juxta populos et nationes suas. Ab his divisæ sunt gentes in terra post diluvium.

These are the families of Noe, according to their people and nations. By these were the nations divided on the earth after the flood.

Hoc familias Noë juxta populos et nationes suo. Ab hoc divide es gentes in terra post diluvio.
