Epistola ad Titum

Tu autem loquere quæ decent sanam doctrinam:

But speak thou the things that become sound doctrine:

Te autem loque que dece sana doctrina:

senes ut sobrii sint, pudici, prudentes, sani in fide, in dilectione, in patientia:

That the aged men be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.

Senes ut sobrio es, pudico, prudente, sana in fide, in dilectione, in patientia:

anus similiter in habitu sancto, non criminatrices, non multo vino servientes, bene docentes:

The aged women, in like manner, in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well:

Ano similiter in habitu sancto, non criminatrecor, non multo vino servi, bene doce:

ut prudentiam doceant adolescentulas, ut viros suos ament, filios suos diligant,

That they may teach the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their children.

Ut adolescentulas doce prudentia, ut viros suo ama, filios suo dilige,

prudentes, castas, sobrias, domus curam habentes, benignas, subditas viris suis, ut non blasphemetur verbum Dei.

To be discreet, chaste, sober, having a care of the house, gentle, obedient to their husbands: that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Prudente, casto, sobrias, de domo cura habe, benigno, subde ad viros suo, ut non verbo de Deo blasphema.

Juvenes similiter hortare ut sobrii sint.

Young men, in like manner, exhort that they be sober.

Iuvenes similiter horta ut sobrio es.

In omnibus teipsum præbe exemplum bonorum operum, in doctrina, in integritate, in gravitate,

In all things shew thyself an example of good works, in doctrine, in integrity, in gravity,

In omni teiba praebe exemplo bono de operes, in doctrina, in integritate, in gravitate,

verbum sanum, irreprehensibile: ut is qui ex adverso est, vereatur, nihil habens malum dicere de nobis.

Verbo sana, irreprehensibile: ut illo qui ex contra es, vereor, nihil habente malo dicere de nos.

Servos dominis suis subditos esse, in omnibus placentes, non contradicentes,

Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters: in all things pleasing, not gainsaying:

Servis ad dominos suo subdito es, in omni place, non contradice,

non fraudantes, sed in omnibus fidem bonam ostendentes: ut doctrinam Salvatoris nostri Dei ornent in omnibus.

Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

Non frauda, sed in omni fide bono ostende: ut doctrina de Salvatore nostro de Deo orna in omni.

Apparuit enim gratia Dei Salvatoris nostri omnibus hominibus,

For the grace of God our Saviour hath appeared to all men:

Gratia nam de Deo de Salvatore nostro appare ad omni homines,

erudiens nos, ut abnegantes impietatem, et sæcularia desideria, sobrie, et juste, et pie vivamus in hoc sæculo,

Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly and justly and godly in this world,

Erudi nos, ut abnega impietate, et saeculare desiderios, sobrie, et iuste, et pie vive in hoc saeculo,

exspectantes beatam spem, et adventum gloriæ magni Dei, et Salvatoris nostri Jesu Christi:

Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Expecta beato spe, et adventu de gloria magna de Deo, et de Salvatore nostro de Iesu de Christo:

qui dedit semetipsum pro nobis, ut nos redimeret ab omni iniquitate, et mundaret sibi populum acceptabilem, sectatorem bonorum operum.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.

Qui da semetipso pro nos, ut nos redime ab omni iniquitate, et munda ad se populo acceptabile, sectatore bono de operes.

Hæc loquere, et exhortare, et argue cum omni imperio. Nemo te contemnat.

These things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Hoc loque, et exhorta, et argue cum omni imperio. Nemo contemne te.
