Tobit
Aperiens autem Tobias senior os suum, benedixit Dominum, et dixit: Magnus es, Domine, in æternum, et in omnia sæcula regnum tuum:
And Tobias the elder opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and said: Thou art great O Lord, for ever, and thy kingdom is unto all ages.
Aperi autem Tobiase sene ore suo, benedic Domino, et dic: magna es, Domino, in aeterno, et in omni saeculos regno tuo:
quoniam tu flagellas, et salvas; deducis ad inferos, et reducis: et non est qui effugiat manum tuam.
For thou scourgest, and thou savest: thou leadest down to hell, and bringest up again: and there is none that can escape thy hand.
Quia te flagella, et salva; deduce ad infero, et reduce: et non qui effuge manu tuo es.
Confitemini Domino, filii Israël, et in conspectu gentium laudate eum:
Give glory to the Lord, ye children of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the Gentiles:
Confite ad Domino, filios Israële, et in conspectu de gentes lauda illo:
quoniam ideo dispersit vos inter gentes quæ ignorant eum, ut vos enarretis mirabilia ejus, et faciatis scire eos quia non est alius deus omnipotens præter eum.
Because he hath therefore scattered you among the Gentiles, who know not him, that you may declare his wonderful works, and make them know that there is no other almighty God besides him.
Quia ideo disperge vos inter gentes que ignora illo, ut vos enarre mirabili de illo, et fac scire illos quia non alio deo omnipotente praeter illo es.
Ipse castigavit nos propter iniquitates nostras, et ipse salvabit nos propter misericordiam suam.
He hath chastised us for our iniquities: and he will save us for his own mercy.
Ipso castiga nos propter iniquitates nostro, et ipso salva nos propter misericordia suo.
Aspicite ergo quæ fecit nobiscum, et cum timore et tremore confitemini illi: regemque sæculorum exaltate in operibus vestris.
See then what he hath done with us, and with fear and trembling give ye glory to him: and extol the eternal King of worlds in your works.
Aspice ergo que fac nobiscum, et cum timore et tremore confite ad illo: et rege de saeculos exalta in operes vestro.
Ego autem in terra captivitatis meæ confitebor illi: quoniam ostendit majestatem suam in gentem peccatricem.
As for me, I will praise him in the land of my captivity: because he hath shewn his majesty toward a sinful nation,
Me autem in terra de captivitate meo confite ad illo: quia ostende maiestate suo in gente peccatrice.
Convertimini itaque peccatores, et facite justitiam coram Deo, credentes quod faciat vobiscum misericordiam suam.
Be converted therefore, ye sinners, and do justice before God, believing that he will shew his mercy to you.
Converte itaque peccatores, et fac iustitia coram Deo, crede quod vobisco que fac misericordia suo.
Ego autem et anima mea in eo lætabimur.
And I and my soul will rejoice in him.
Me autem et anima meo in eo laetor.
Benedicite Dominum omnes electi ejus: agite dies lætitiæ, et confitemini illi.
Bless ye the Lord, all his elect, keep days of joy, and give glory to him.
Benedic Domino omni elige de illo: age dies de laetitia, et confite ad illo.
Jerusalem civitas Dei, castigavit te Dominus in operibus manuum tuarum.
Jerusalem, city of God, the Lord hath chastised thee for the works of thy hands.
Ierusalem civitate de Deo, Domino castiga te in operes de manus tuo.
Confitere Domino in bonis tuis, et benedic Deum sæculorum: ut reædificet in te tabernaculum suum, et revocet ad te omnes captivos, et gaudeas in omnia sæcula sæculorum.
Give glory to the Lord for thy good things, and bless the God eternal that he may rebuild his tabernacle in thee, and may call back all the captives to thee, and thou mayst rejoice for ever and ever.
Confite ad Domino in bono tuo, et benedic Deo de saeculos: ut reaedifica in te tabernaculo suo, et revoca ad te omni captivas, et gaude in omni saeculos de saeculos.
Luce splendida fulgebis, et omnes fines terræ adorabunt te.
Thou shalt shine with a glorious light: and all the ends of the earth shall worship thee,
Luce splendida fulge, et omni fines de terra adora te.
Nationes ex longinquo ad te venient, et munera deferentes adorabunt in te Dominum, et terram tuam in sanctificationem habebunt:
Nations from afar shall come to thee: and shall bring gifts, and shall adore the Lord in thee, and shall esteem thy land as holy.
Nationes ex longinqua ad te veni, et muneres defer adora in te Domino, et terra tuo in sanctificatione habe:
nomen enim magnum invocabunt in te.
For they shall call upon the great name in thee,
Nomine nam magna invoca in te.
Maledicti erunt qui contempserint te, et condemnati erunt omnes qui blasphemaverint te: benedictique erunt qui ædificaverint te.
They shall be cursed that shall despise thee: and they shall be condemned that shall blaspheme thee: and blessed shall they be that shall build thee up,
Maledice es qui contemne te, et condemna es omni qui blasphema te: et benedicto qui aedifica te es.
Tu autem lætaberis in filiis tuis, quoniam omnes benedicentur, et congregabuntur ad Dominum.
But thou shalt rejoice in thy children, because they shall all be blessed, and shall be gathered together to the Lord.
Te autem laetor in filios tuo, quia omni benedic, et congrega ad Domino.
Beati omnes qui diligunt te, et qui gaudent super pace tua.
Blessed are all they that love thee, and that rejoice in thy peace,
Beato omni qui dilige te, et qui gaude super pace tuo.
Anima mea, benedic Dominum, quoniam liberavit Jerusalem civitatem suam a cunctis tribulationibus ejus Dominus Deus noster.
My soul, bless thou the Lord, because the Lord our God hath delivered Jerusalem his city from all her troubles.
Anima meo, benedic Domino, quia Domino Deo nostro libera ab cuncta tribulationes de illo Ierusalem civitate suo.
Beatus ero si fuerint reliquiæ seminis mei ad videndam claritatem Jerusalem.
Happy shall I be if there shall remain of my seed, to see the glory of Jerusalem.
Beato es si reliquias de semine meo es ad vide claritate Ierusalem.
Portæ Jerusalem ex sapphiro et smaragdo ædificabuntur, et ex lapide pretioso omnis circuitus murorum ejus.
The gates of Jerusalem shall be built of sapphire, and of emerald, and all the walls thereof round about of precious stones.
Portas Ierusalem ex sapphiro et smaragdo aedifica, et ex lapide pretioso omni circuitu de muros de illo.
Ex lapide candido et mundo omnes plateæ ejus sternentur, et per vicos ejus alleluja cantabitur.
All its streets shall be paved with white and clean stones: and Alleluia shall be sung in its streets,
Ex lapide candida et mundo omni plateas de illo sterne, et per vicos de illo alleluia canta.
Benedictus Dominus, qui exaltavit eam, et sit regnum ejus in sæcula sæculorum super eam. Amen.
Blessed be the Lord, who hath exalted it, and may he reign over it for ever and ever, Amen.
Benedicto Domino, qui exalta illa, et regno de illo es in saeculos de saeculos super illa. Amen.
