Liber II Paralipomenon

Et cœpit Salomon ædificare domum Domini in Jerusalem in monte Moria, qui demonstratus fuerat David patri ejus, in loco quem paraverat David in area Ornan Jebusæi.

And Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, in mount Moria, which had been shewn to David his father, in the place which David had prepared in the thrashingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Et Salomone incipe aedifica domo de Domino in Ierusalem in monte Moria, qui demonstra es Davide ad patre de illo, in loco Davide para quem in area Ornase de Iebusaeo.

Cœpit autem ædificare mense secundo, anno quarto regni sui.

And he began to build in the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

Incipe autem aedifica mense secundo, anno quarto de regno suo.

Et hæc sunt fundamenta quæ jecit Salomon, ut ædificaret domum Dei: longitudinis cubitos in mensura prima sexaginta, latitudinis cubitos viginti.

Now these are the foundations, which Solomon laid, to build the house of God, the length by the first measure sixty cubits, the breadth twenty cubits.

Et hoc es fundamentos que ice Salomone, ut aedifica domo de Deo: de longitudine cubitoses in mensura primo sexaginta, de latitudine cubitoses viginti.

Porticum vero ante frontem, quæ tendebatur in longum juxta mensuram latitudinis domus, cubitorum viginti: porro altitudo centum viginti cubitorum erat: et deauravit eam intrinsecus auro mundissimo.

And the porch in the front, which was extended in length according to the measure of the breadth of the house, twenty cubits: and the height was a hundred and twenty cubits: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

Porticu vero ante fronte, que tende in longo juxta mensura de latitudine de domo, de cubitos viginti: porro altitudine cento viginti de cubitos es: et deaura illa intrinsecus auro mundo.

Domum quoque majorem texit tabulis ligneis abiegnis, et laminas auri obrizi affixit per totum: sculpsitque in ea palmas, et quasi catenulas se invicem complectentes.

And the greater house he ceiled with deal boards, and overlaid them with plates of fine gold throughout: and he graved in them palm trees, and like little chains interlaced with one another.

Domo etiam magna tege tabulas ligneos abiegnias, et laminas de auro de obrizio affige per toto: et sculpra in illa palmas, et quasi catenulas se invicem complector.

Stravit quoque pavimentum templi pretiosissimo marmore, decore multo.

He paved also the floor of the temple with most precious marble, of great beauty.

Sterne etiam pavimento de templo pretioso marmore, decore multo.

Porro aurum erat probatissimum, de cujus laminis texit domum, et trabes ejus, et postes, et parietes, et ostia: et cælavit cherubim in parietibus.

And the gold of the plates with which he overlaid the house, and the beams thereof, and the posts, and the walls, and the doors was of the finest: and he graved cherubims on the walls.

Porro auro es probato, de que lamos tege domo, et trabes de illo, et postes, et parietes, et ostios: et caela cherubes in parietes.

Fecit quoque domum Sancti sanctorum: longitudinem juxta latitudinem domus cubitorum viginti: et latitudinem similiter viginti cubitorum: et laminis aureis texit eam, quasi talentis sexcentis.

He made also the house of the holy of holies: the length of it according to the breadth of the temple, twenty cubits, and the breadth of it in like manner twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with plates of gold, amounting to about six hundred talents.

Fac etiam domo Sancto sancto: longitudine juxta latitudine de domo de cubitos viginti: et latitudine similiter viginti de cubitos: et lamos aurea tege illa, quasi talentes sexcenti.

Sed et clavos fecit aureos, ita ut singuli clavi siclos quinquagenos appenderent: cœnacula quoque texit auro.

He made also nails of gold, and the weight of every nail was fifty sicles: the upper chambers also he overlaid with gold.

Sed et clavos fac aurea, ita ut singulo claves appende siclos quinquageni: coenaculos etiam tege auro.

Fecit etiam in domo Sancti sanctorum cherubim duos, opere statuario: et texit eos auro.

He made also in the house of the holy of holies two cherubims of image work: and he overlaid them with gold.

Fac etiam in domo Sancto sancto de cherubes duo, opere statuario: et tege illos auro.

Alæ cherubim viginti cubitis extendebantur, ita ut una ala haberet cubitos quinque et tangeret parietem domus: et altera quinque cubitos habens, alam tangeret alterius cherub.

The wings of the cherubims were extended twenty cubits, so that one wing was five cubits long, and reached to the wall of the house: and the other was also five cubits long, and reached to the wing of the other cherub.

Alas de cherubes viginti cubitos extende, ita ut uno aluma habe cubitoses quinque et tange pariete de domo: et altero quinque cubitose habente, ala tange de altero cherube.

Similiter cherub alterius ala, quinque habebat cubitos, et tangebat parietem: et ala ejus altera quinque cubitorum, alam cherub alterius contingebat.

In like manner the wing of the other cherub, was five cubits long, and reached to the wall: and his other wing was five cubits long, and touched the wing of the other cherub.

Similiter cherube de altero aluma, quinque habe cubitoses, et tange pariete: et aluma de illo altero quinque de cubito, ala de cherube de altero continge.

Igitur alæ utriusque cherubim expansæ erant et extendebantur per cubitos viginti: ipsi autem stabant erectis pedibus, et facies eorum erant versæ ad exteriorem domum.

So the wings of the two cherubims were spread forth, and were extended twenty cubits: and they stood upright on their feet, and their faces were turned toward the house without.

Ergo alas et utro de cherubes expande es et extende per cubitoses viginti: ipso autem sta erige pedes, et facies de illos es verte ad exteriori domo.

Fecit quoque velum ex hyacintho, purpura, cocco, et bysso: et intexuit ei cherubim.

He made also a veil of violet, purple, scarlet, and silk: and wrought in it cherubims.

Fac etiam velo ex hyacintho, purpura, cocco, et bysso: et intexexe ad illo cherube.

Ante fores etiam templi duas columnas, quæ triginta et quinque cubitos habebant altitudinis: porro capita earum, quinque cubitorum.

He made also before the doors of the temple two pillars, which were five and thirty cubits high: and their chapiters were five cubits.

Ante foris etiam de templo duo columna, que triginta et quinque cubitose habe de altitudine: porro capites de illas, quinque de cubito.

Necnon et quasi catenulas in oraculo, et superposuit eas capitibus columnarum: malogranata etiam centum, quæ catenulis interposuit.

He made also as it were little chains in the oracle, and he put them on the heads of the pillars: and a hundred pomegranates, which he put between the little chains.

Necnon et quasi catenulas in oraculo, et superpone illas capites de columnas: malogra etiam cento, que catenulos interpone.

Ipsas quoque columnas posuit in vestibulo templi, unam a dextris, et alteram a sinistris: eam quæ a dextris erat, vocavit Jachin: et quæ ad lævam, Booz.

These pillars he put at the entrance of the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left: that which was on the right hand, he called Jachin: and that on the left hand, Booz.

Ipso etiam columnas pone in vestibulo de templo, uno ab dextro, et altero ab sinistro: illa que ab dextro es, voca Iachine: et que ad laeva, Booz.
