Epistola ad Galatas

Paulus, Apostolus non ab hominibus, neque per hominem, sed per Jesum Christum, et Deum Patrem, qui suscitavit eum a mortuis:

Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead:

Paulo, Apostolo non ab homines, neque per homine, sed per Iesu Christo, et Deo Patre, qui suscita illo ab mortuo:

et qui mecum sunt omnes fratres, ecclesiis Galatiæ.

And all the brethren who are with me: to the churches of Galatia.

Et qui mecum es omni fratres, ecclesias de Galatia.

Gratia vobis, et pax a Deo Patre, et Domino nostro Jesu Christo,

Grace be to you, and peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

Gratia ad vos, et pace ab Deo Patre, et Domino nostro Iesu Christo,

qui dedit semetipsum pro peccatis nostris, ut eriperet nos de præsenti sæculo nequam, secundum voluntatem Dei et Patris nostri,

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present wicked world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Qui da semetipso pro peccatos nostro, ut eripe nos de praesenti saeculo nequissimo, secundo voluntate de Deo et de Patre nostro,

cui est gloria in sæcula sæculorum. Amen.

To whom is glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Ad que es gloria in saeculos de saeculos. Amen.

Miror quod sic tam cito transferimini ab eo qui vos vocavit in gratiam Christi in aliud Evangelium:

I wonder that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ, unto another gospel.

Miror quod sic tam cito transfer ab eo qui voca vos in gratia de Christo in alio Evangelio:

quod non est aliud, nisi sunt aliqui qui vos conturbant, et volunt convertere Evangelium Christi.

Which is not another: only there are some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Quod non es alio, nisi es aliquo qui conturba vos, et vol converte Evangelio de Christo.

Sed licet nos aut angelus de cælo evangelizet vobis præterquam quod evangelizavimus vobis, anathema sit.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.

Sed lice nos aut angelo de caelo evangeliza ad vos praeterquam quod evangeliza ad vos, anathemate es.

Sicut prædiximus, et nunc iterum dico: si quis vobis evangelizaverit præter id quod accepistis, anathema sit.

As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema.

Sicut praedica, et nunc iterum dic: si qui ad vos evangeliza praeter id quod accipe, anathemate es.

Modo enim hominibus suadeo, an Deo? an quæro hominibus placere? si adhuc hominibus placerem, Christi servus non essem.

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Solo nam ad homines suade, an ad Deo? An quaere ad homines place? Si adhuc ad homines place, de Christo servo non es.

Notum enim vobis facio, fratres, Evangelium, quod evangelizatum est a me, quia non est secundum hominem:

For I give you to understand, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.

Noto nam ad vos fac, fratres, Evangelio, quod evangeliza es ab me, quia non es secundo homine:

neque enim ego ab homine accepi illud, neque didici, sed per revelationem Jesu Christi.

For neither did I receive it of man: nor did I learn it but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Neque nam me ab homine accipe illo, neque disce, sed per revelatione de Iesu de Christo.

Audistis enim conversationem meam aliquando in Judaismo: quoniam supra modum persequebar Ecclesiam Dei, et expugnabam illam,

For you have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion: how that, beyond measure, I persecuted the church of God and wasted it.

Lude nam conversatione meo aliquando in Iudaismos: quia supra modo perseque Ecclesia de Deo, et expugna illa,

et proficiebam in Judaismo supra multos coætaneos meos in genere meo, abundantius æmulator existens paternarum mearum traditionum.

And I made progress in the Jew's religion above many of my equals in my own nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

Et profice in Iudaismos supra multo coaetaneo meo in genere meo, abundanter aemulatore existe paterna meo de traditiones.

Cum autem placuit ei, qui me segregavit ex utero matris meæ, et vocavit per gratiam suam,

But when it pleased him who separated me from my mother's womb and called me by his grace,

Cum autem place ad illo, qui segrega me ex utero de matre meo, et voca per gratia suo,

ut revelaret Filium suum in me, ut evangelizarem illum in gentibus: continuo non acquievi carni et sanguini,

To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles: immediately I condescended not to flesh and blood.

Ut revela Filio suo in me, ut evangeliza illo in gentes: continuo non acquiesce ad carne et ad sanguine,

neque veni Jerosolymam ad antecessores meos Apostolos: sed abii in Arabiam, et iterum reversus sum Damascum:

Neither went I to Jerusalem, to the apostles who were before me: but I went into Arabia, and again I returned to Damascus.

Neque veni Ierosolyma ad antecessores meo Apostolos: sed i ab in Arabia, et iterum reverte es Damasco:

deinde post annos tres veni Jerosolymam videre Petrum, et mansi apud eum diebus quindecim:

Then, after three years, I went to Jerusalem to see Peter: and I tarried with him fifteen days.

Deinde post annos tre veni Ierosolyma videre Petro, et mane apud illo dies quindecime:

alium autem Apostolorum vidi neminem, nisi Jacobum fratrem Domini.

But other of the apostles I saw none, saving James the brother of the Lord.

Alio autem de Apostolos vide nemine, nisi Iacobo fratre de Domino.

Quæ autem scribo vobis, ecce coram Deo, quia non mentior.

Now the things which I write to you, behold, before God, I lie not.

Que autem scribe ad vos, ecce coram Deo, quia non mentior.

Deinde veni in partes Syriæ, et Ciliciæ.

Afterwards, I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

Deinde veni in partes de Syria, et de Cilicia.

Eram autem ignotus facie ecclesiis Judææ, quæ erant in Christo:

And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea, which were in Christ:

Es autem ignoto facie ecclesias de Iudaea, que es in Christo:

tantum autem auditum habebant quoniam qui persequebatur nos aliquando, nunc evangelizat fidem, quam aliquando expugnabat:

But they had heard only: He, who persecuted us in times past doth now preach the faith which once he impugned.

Tanto autem auditu habe quia qui perseque nos aliquando, nunc evangeliza fide, quam aliquando expugna:

et in me clarificabant Deum.

And they glorified God in me.

Et in me clarifica Deo.
