Isaiah
Ecce Dominus dissipabit terram: et nudabit eam, et affliget faciem ejus, et disperget habitatores ejus.
Behold the Lord shall lay waste the earth, and shall strip it, and shall afflict the face thereof, and scatter abroad the inhabitants thereof.
Ecce Domino dissipa terra: et nuda illa, et afflige facie de illo, et dirperga habitatores de illo.
Et erit sicut populus, sic sacerdos; et sicut servus, sic dominus ejus; sicut ancilla, sic domina ejus; sicut emens, sic ille qui vendit; sicut fœnerator, sic is qui mutuum accipit; sicut qui repetit, sic qui debet.
And it shall be as with the people, so with the priest: and as with the servant so with his master: as with the handmaid, so with her mistress: as with the buyer, so with the seller: as with the lender, so with the borrower: as with him that calleth for his money, so with him that oweth.
Et es sicut populo, sic sacerdote; et sicut servo, sic domino de illo; sicut ancilla, sic domino de illo; sicut eme, sic illo qui vende; sicut foeneratore, sic illo qui accipe mutuo; sicut qui repete, sic qui debe.
Dissipatione dissipabitur terra, et direptione prædabitur; Dominus enim locutus est verbum hoc.
With desolation shall the earth be laid waste, and it shall be utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.
Dissipatione terra dissipa, et direptione praedor; domino nam locuto es verbo hoc.
Luxit, et defluxit terra, et infirmata est; defluxit orbis, infirmata est altitudo populi terræ.
The earth mourned, and faded away, and is weakened: the world faded away, the height of the people of the earth is weakened.
Luce, et terra deflue, et infirma es; orbe deflue, infirma es altitudine de populo de terra.
Et terra infecta est ab habitatoribus suis, quia transgressi sunt leges, mutaverunt jus, dissipaverunt fœdus sempiternum.
And the earth is infected by the inhabitants thereof: because they have transgressed the laws, they have changed the ordinance, they have broken the everlasting covenant.
Et terra inficie es ab habitatores suo, quia transgredior es leges, muta iure, dissipa foedere sempiterno.
Propter hoc maledictio vorabit terram, et peccabunt habitatores ejus; ideoque insanient cultores ejus, et relinquentur homines pauci.
Therefore shall a curse devour the earth, and the inhabitants thereof shall sin: and therefore they that dwell therein shall be mad, and few men shall be left.
Propter hoc maledictione vora terra, et habitatores de illo pecca; et ideo cultores de illo insani, et homines pauco relinque.
Luxit vindemia, infirmata est vitis, ingemuerunt omnes qui lætabantur corde;
The vintage hath mourned, the vine hath languished away, all the merry have sighed.
Vindemio luce, infirma es vite, omni qui laetor corde ingeme;
cessavit gaudium tympanorum, quievit sonitus lætantium, conticuit dulcedo citharæ.
The mirth of timbrels hath ceased, the noise of them that rejoice is ended, the melody of the harp is silent.
Gaudio de tympanos cessa, sonitu laeta quiesce, dulcedo de cithara conticesce.
Cum cantico non bibent vinum; amara erit potio bibentibus illam.
They shall not drink wine with a song: the drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
Cum cantico non bibe vino; amaro es potione bibe illa.
Attrita est civitas vanitatis, clausa est omnis domus, nullo introëunte.
The city of vanity is broken down, every house is shut up, no man cometh in.
Affriga es civitate de vanitate, claude es omni domo, nullo introi.
Clamor erit super vino in plateis, deserta est omnia lætitia, translatum est gaudium terræ.
There shall be a crying for wine in the streets: all mirth is forsaken: the joy of the earth is gone away.
Clamore es super vino in plateas, desere es omni laetitia, transfer es gaudio de terra.
Relicta est in urbe solitudo, et calamitas opprimet portas.
Desolation is left in the city, and calamity shall oppress the gates.
Relinque es in urbe solitudine, et calamitate opprime portas.
Quia hæc erunt in medio terræ in medio populorum, quomodo si paucæ olivæ quæ remanserunt excutiantur ex olea et racemi, cum fuerit finita vindemia.
For it shall be thus in the midst of the earth, in the midst of the people, as if a few olives, that remain, should be shaken out of the olive tree: or grapes, when the vintage is ended.
Quia hoc es in medio de terra in medio de populos, quomodo si paucissimo olivas que remane excute ex olea et de raceme, cum es finie vindemio.
Hi levabunt vocem suam, atque laudabunt: cum glorificatus fuerit Dominus, hinnient de mari.
These shall lift up their voice, and shall give praise: when the Lord shall be glorified, they shall make a joyful noise from the sea.
Illo leva voce suo, et lauda: cum glorifica es Domino, hinnie de mari.
Propter hoc in doctrinis glorificate Dominum; in insulis maris nomen Domini Dei Israël.
Therefore glorify ye the Lord in instruction: the name of the Lord God of Israel in the islands of the sea.
Propter hoc in doctrinas glorifica Domino; in insulas de mari nomine de Domino de Deo Israële.
A finibus terræ laudes audivimus, gloriam Justi. Et dixi: Secretum meum mihi, secretum meum mihi. Væ mihi! prævaricantes prævaricati sunt, et prævaricatione transgressorum prævaricati sunt.
From the ends of the earth we have heard praises, the glory of the just one. And I said: My secret to myself, my secret to myself, woe is me: the prevaricators have prevaricated, and with the prevarication of transgressors they have prevaricated.
Ab fines de terra laudes audi, gloria Iusto. Et dic: secreto meo ad me, secreto meo ad me. Vae ad me! Praevaricor praevaricor es, et praevaricatione transgredior praevaricor es.
Formido, et fovea, et laqueus super te, qui habitator es terræ.
Fear, and the pit, and the snare are upon thee, O thou inhabitant of the earth.
Formido, et fovea, et laqueo super te, qui habitatore es de terra.
Et erit: qui fugerit a voce formidinis cadet in foveam; et qui se explicaverit de fovea tenebitur laqueo; quia cataractæ de excelsis apertæ sunt et concutientur fundamenta terræ.
And it shall come to pass, that he that shall flee from the noise of the fear, shall fall into the pit: and he that shall rid himself out of the pit, shall be taken in the snare: for the flood-gates from on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth shall be shaken.
Et qui: fuge ab voce de formidino es cade in fovea; et qui explica se de fovea tene laqueo; quia catarera de excelsos aperi es et fundamentos de terra concutie.
Confractione confringetur terra, contritione conteretur terra, commotione commovebitur terra;
With breaking shall the earth be broken, with crushing shall the earth be crushed, with trembling shall the earth be moved.
Confractione terra confringe, contritione terra contere, commotione terra commove;
agitatione agitabitur terra sicut ebrius, et auferetur quasi tabernaculum unius noctis; et gravabit eam iniquitas sua, et corruet, et non adjiciet ut resurgat.
With shaking shall the earth be shaken as a drunken man, and shall be removed as the tent of one night: and the iniquity thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again.
Agitatione terra age sicut ebrio, et quasi tabernaculo de uno de nocte aufer; et iniquitate suo grava illa, et corrue, et non adiice ut resurge.
Et erit: in die illa visitabit Dominus super militiam cæli in excelso, et super reges terræ qui sunt super terram;
And it shall come to pass, that in that day the Lord shall visit upon the host of heaven on high, and upon the kings of the earth, on the earth.
Et es: in die illa Domino visita super militia de caelo in excelso, et super reges de terra qui es super terra;
et congregabuntur in congregatione unius fascis in lacum, et claudentur ibi in carcere, et post multos dies visitabuntur.
And they shall be gathered together as in the gathering of one bundle into the pit, and they shall be shut up there in prison: and after many days they shall be visited.
Et de uno in congregatione de fasce congrega in lacu, et claude ibi in carcere, et post multo dies visita.
Et erubescet luna, et confundetur sol, cum regnaverit Dominus exercituum in monte Sion et in Jerusalem et in conspectu senum suorum fuerit glorificatus.
And the moon shall blush, and the sun shall be ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Sion, and in Jerusalem, and shall be glorified in the sight of his ancients.
Et luna erubesce, et sole confunde, cum Domino de exercitus regna in monte Sione et in Ierusalem et in conspectu de senes suo es glorifica.
