Prophetia Isaiae

Hæc dicit Dominus christo meo Cyro, cujus apprehendi dexteram, ut subjiciam ante faciem ejus gentes, et dorsa regum vertam, et aperiam coram eo januas, et portæ non claudentur:

Thus saith the Lord to my anointed Cyrus, whose right hand I have taken hold of, to subdue nations before his face, and to turn the backs of kings, and to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut.

Hoc dic Domino ad christo meo ad Cyro, de que apprehende dextera, ut subiice ante facie de illo gentes, et dorsas de reges verte, et aperi coram eo ianuas, et portas non claude:

Ego ante te ibo, et gloriosos terræ humiliabo; portas æreas conteram, et vectes ferreos confringam:

I will go before thee, and will humble the great ones of the earth: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and will burst the bars of iron.

Me ante te iba, et glorioso de terra humilia; portas aereo contere, et vectes ferrea confringe:

et dabo tibi thesauros absconditos, et arcana secretorum, ut scias quia ego Dominus, qui voco nomen tuum, Deus Israël,

And I will give thee hidden treasures, and the concealed riches of secret places: that thou mayest know that I am the Lord who call thee by thy name, the God of Israel.

Et da ad te thesauros absconditus, et arcano de secretores, ut sci quia me Domino, qui voca nomine tuo, Deo Israële,

propter servum meum Jacob, et Israël, electum meum; et vocavi te nomine tuo: assimilavi te, et non cognovisti me.

For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have made a likeness of thee, and thou hast not known me.

Propter servo meo Iacobo, et Israële, elige meo; et voca te nomine tuo: assimula te, et non cognosce me.

Ego Dominus, et non est amplius; extra me non est deus; accinxi te, et non cognovisti me:

I am the Lord, and there is none else: there is no God besides me: I girded thee, and thou hast not known me:

Me Domino, et non es ample; extra me non es deo; accinge te, et non cognosce me:

ut sciant hi qui ab ortu solis et qui ab occidente, quoniam absque me non est: ego Dominus, et non est alter:

That they may know who are from the rising of the sun, and they who are from the west, that there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is none else:

Ut qui hoc ab ortu de sole sci et qui ab occidente, quia absque me non es: me Domino, et non es altero:

formans lucem et creans tenebras, faciens pacem et creans malum: ego Dominus faciens omnia hæc.

I form the light, and create darkness, I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord that do all these things.

Forma luce et crea tenebras, faciente pace et crea malo: me Domino faciente omni hoc.

Rorate, cæli, desuper, et nubes pluant justum; aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem, et justitia oriatur simul: ego Dominus creavi eum.

Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened, and bud forth a saviour: and let justice spring up together: I the Lord have created him.

Rora, de caelo, desuper, et nube plue iusto; terra aperi, et germina Salvatore, et iustitia ori simul: me Domino crea illo.

Væ qui contradicit fictori suo, testa de samiis terræ! Numquid dicet lutum figulo suo: Quid facis, et opus tuum absque manibus est?

Woe to him that gainsayeth his maker, a sherd of the earthen pots: shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it: What art thou making, and thy work is without hands?

Vae qui contradice ad fictore suo, testa de samios de terra! Numquid dic luto ad figulo suo: quid fac, et opere tuo absque manus es?

Væ qui dicit patri: Quid generas? et mulieri: Quid parturis?

Woe to him that saith to his father: Why begettest thou? and to the woman: Why dost thou bring forth?

Vae qui dic ad patre: quid genera? Et ad muliere: quid parturie?

Hæc dicit Dominus, Sanctus Israël, plastes ejus: Ventura interrogate me; super filios meos et super opus manuum mearum mandate mihi.

Thus saith the Lord the Holy One of Israel, his maker: Ask me of things to come, concerning my children, and concerning the work of my hands give ye charge to me.

Hoc dic Domino, Sancto Israële, plaste de illo: ventura interroga me; super filios meo et super opere de manus meo manda ad me.

Ego feci terram, et hominem super eam creavi ego: manus meæ tetenderunt cælos, et omni militiæ eorum mandavi.

I made the earth: and I created man upon it: my hand stretched forth the heavens, and I have commanded all their host.

Me fac terra, et me super illa crea homine: manus meo teta caelos, et omni de militia de illos manda.

Ego suscitavi eum ad justitiam, et omnes vias ejus dirigam; ipse ædificabit civitatem meam, et captivitatem meam dimittet, non in pretio neque in muneribus, dicit Dominus Deus exercituum.

I have raised him up to justice, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and let go my captives, not for ransom, nor for presents, saith the Lord the God of hosts.

Me suscita illo ad iustitia, et omni vias de illo dirige; ipso aedifica civitate meo, et captivitate meo dimitte, non in pretio neque in muneres, Domino Deo de exercitus dic.

Hæc dicit Dominus: Labor Ægypti, et negotiatio Æthiopiæ, et Sabaim viri sublimes ad te transibunt, et tui erunt; post te ambulabunt, vincti manicis pergent, et te adorabunt, teque deprecabuntur. Tantum in te est Deus, et non est absque te deus.

Thus saith the Lord: The labour of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and of Sabaim, men of stature shall come over to thee, and shall be thine: they shall walk after thee, they shall go bound with manacles: and they shall worship thee, and shall make supplication to thee: only in thee is God, and there is no God besides thee.

Domino dic hoc: labore de Aegypto, et negotiatione de Aethiopia, et Sabaim viros sublime ad te transi, et tuo es; post te ambula, vince manicas perge, et te adora, teque depreca. Tanto in te es Deo, et non es absque te deo.

Vere tu es Deus absconditus, Deus Israël, salvator.

Verily thou art a hidden God, the God of Israel the saviour.

Vere te es Deo absconde, Deo Israële, salvatore.

Confusi sunt, et erubuerunt omnes: simul abierunt in confusionem fabricatores errorum.

They are all confounded and ashamed: the forgers of errors are gone together into confusion.

Confunde es, et omni erubesce: simul fabricatores in confusione de erroros i ab.

Israël salvatus est in Domino salute æterna; non confundemini, et non erubescetis usque in sæculum sæculi.

Israel is saved in the Lord with an eternal salvation: you shall not be confounded, and you shall not be ashamed for ever and ever.

Israële salvato es in Domino salute aeterno; non confunde, et non erubesce usque in saeculo de saeculo.

Quia hæc dicit Dominus creans cælos, ipse Deus formans terram et faciens eam, ipse plastes ejus; non in vanum creavit eam: ut habitaretur formavit eam: Ego Dominus, et non est alius.

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth, and made it, the very maker thereof: he did not create it in vain: he formed it to be inhabited. I am the Lord, and there is no other.

Quia hoc dic Domino crea caelos, ipso Deo forma terra et faciente illa, ipso plaste de illo; non in vana crea illa: ut habita me Domino: forma illa, et non es alio.

Non in abscondito locutus sum, in loco terræ tenebroso; non dixi semini Jacob frustra: Quærite me: ego Dominus loquens justitiam, annuntians recta.

I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I have not said to the seed of Jacob: Seek me in vain. I am the Lord that speak justice, that declare right things.

Non in absconditus locuto es, in loco de terra tenebroso; non dic ad semine Iacobo frustra: me Domino: quaere me loquente iustitia, annuntia rectus.

Congregamini, et venite, et accedite simul qui salvati estis ex gentibus: nescierunt qui levant lignum sculpturæ suæ, et rogant deum non salvantem.

Assemble yourselves, and come, and draw near together, ye that are saved of the Gentiles: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven work, and pray to a god that cannot save.

Congrega, et veni, et accede simul qui salva es ex gentes: qui leva ligno de sculptura suo ne sci, et roga deo non salva.

Annuntiate, et venite, et consiliamini simul. Quis auditum fecit hoc ab initio, ex tunc prædixit illud? numquid non ego Dominus, et non est ultra deus absque me? Deus justus, et salvans non est præter me.

Tell ye, and come, and consult together: who hath declared this from the beginning, who hath foretold this from that time? Have not I the Lord, and there is no God else besides me? A just God and a saviour, there is none besides me.

Annuntia, et veni, et consilia simul. Qui auditu fac hoc ab initio, ex tunc praedica illo? Numquid non me Domino, et non es ultra deo absque me? Deo iusto, et salva non es praeter me.

Convertimini ad me, et salvi eritis, omnes fines terræ, quia ego Deus, et non est alius.

Be converted to me, and you shall be saved, all ye ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is no other.

Converte ad me, et salva es, omni fines de terra, quia me Deo, et non es alio.

In memetipso juravi; egredietur de ore meo justitiæ verbum, et non revertetur: quia mihi curvabitur omne genu, et jurabit omnis lingua.

I have sworn by myself, the word of justice shall go out of my mouth, and shall not return:

In memetipso iura; de iustitia de ore meo verbo egredior, et non reverte: quia ad me omni genu curva, et omni lingua iura.

Ergo in Domino, dicet, meæ sunt justitiæ et imperium; ad eum venient, et confundentur omnes qui repugnant ei.

For every knee shall be bowed to me, and every tongue shall swear.

Ergo in Domino, dic, meo es de iustitia et imperio; ad illo veni, et omni qui repugna ad illo confunde.

In Domino justificabitur, et laudabitur omne semen Israël.

Therefore shall he say: In the Lord are my justices and empire: they shall come to him, and all that resist him shall be confounded.

In Domino iustifica, et omni semine Israële lauda.
